Nasarawa Government Seeks Investigation into Disruption of Vice-President’s Visit
The Nasarawa State Government has asked security agencies to look into a disruption that occurred during Vice-President Kashim Shettima’s visit to the Emir of Lafia. This visit took place on Wednesday during an All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally.
Reports indicate that there were disturbances during the Vice-President’s meeting with the traditional ruler. Concerns were raised by the governor’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Emmanuel Innocent Akwe, who claimed that Governor Abdullahi Sule was attacked with objects believed to be stones by some unhappy party members.
Akwe called the incident unacceptable and emphasized the need to respect the governor’s position and maintain unity within the APC in the state. The state government echoed these sentiments, expressing worry over the disruption of the Vice-President’s visit.
Labaran Magaji, the Secretary to the State Government, stated that Shettima’s visit was meant to honor the traditional institution. He condemned the reported actions as disrespectful to both the Vice-President and other authorities.
Magaji urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter, identify those responsible, and ensure that anyone found guilty faces appropriate consequences. The situation reflects ongoing political tensions within the APC in Nasarawa, particularly following the party’s recent governorship primary.
As of now, the details surrounding the disturbances and the identities of those involved remain unclear, and there has been no official response to the allegations.
