Anambra Governor Urges South-East Leaders to Unite with Federal Government

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has called on political leaders in the South-East to move away from opposition politics and work more closely with the Federal Government. He made this appeal during a stakeholders’ meeting on Sunday in Awka, which included leaders from various political parties.

At the meeting, Soludo emphasized that the coalition of parties supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election marks a new direction for the region’s political involvement. He noted that the South-East has been largely defined by opposition politics since the 2015 elections and urged leaders to actively participate in governance.

Soludo pointed out that the limited support for Tinubu in Anambra during the last presidential election had a direct impact on the state’s development. He suggested that if the region could mobilize more support, it could lead to even greater benefits and projects for the area.

He acknowledged the government’s efforts to stabilize the economy and improve foreign exchange availability but mentioned that more work is needed. Soludo called for a reorganization of the coalition’s campaign efforts, encouraging grassroots mobilizers to engage in door-to-door campaigns, similar to strategies used in past elections.

During the meeting, other leaders also expressed their support for the coalition. APGA National Chairman Sly Ezeokenwa described the gathering as significant for Anambra’s political history, while APC Chairman Sen. Emma Anosike highlighted the importance of unity among different parties to achieve common goals.

Overall, the meeting aimed to strengthen political alliances and enhance the South-East’s role in national governance.
