Senate President Akpabio Expects Akwa Ibom to Lead South-South Votes for Tinubu in 2027
Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, is confident that Akwa Ibom State will provide the highest number of votes for President Bola Tinubu in the South-South region during the 2027 presidential election. He shared this optimism during a church service in Uyo on Sunday, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) dedicated its 2027 election campaigns to God.
The church service had the theme, “We Are Well Able.” In a statement from his media assistant, Akpabio emphasized the need for APC members in Akwa Ibom to unite and work together to ensure the party’s success at the polls. He noted that the state has a duty to show gratitude to President Tinubu for his support, which helped him become Senate President.
Akpabio stated, “The only way to thank Mr. President for that support is to give him all our votes.” He expressed his belief that Akwa Ibom will lead the South-South region in votes for Tinubu.
In his address, titled “One Family, One Destiny, One Akwa Ibom Under God,” Akpabio highlighted the importance of righteousness, justice, and mercy in governance. He praised Akwa Ibom as a success story in Nigeria, attributing its progress to effective leadership and community development.
He urged party leaders and members to maintain unity within the APC, warning against divisions between old and new members. Akpabio stated that all members should be treated equally, emphasizing that the party is one big family with a shared purpose.
He also addressed the need for political ambitions to not overshadow the welfare of the people, encouraging campaigns that respect human dignity. Akpabio remarked that the development of Akwa Ibom is closely linked to the progress of Nigeria as a whole.
Governor Umo Eno, who also spoke at the event, thanked the people for their previous support and called for continued backing for Tinubu, Akpabio, and other APC candidates in the upcoming elections.
