Action Democratic Party Suspends Chairman Yabagi Sani Over Forgery Claims

The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has suspended its National Chairman, Yabagi Yusuf Sani, due to serious allegations including forgery and interference with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) candidate nomination portal. This decision was made during a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja.

According to the party, Sani is accused of failing to disclose financial details related to the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms. The NWC claims he has not accounted for the revenue generated from these sales over the years. The party’s notification to INEC included various allegations against Sani, including unauthorized access to party documents and actions that could harm the party’s reputation.

The ADP had previously raised concerns with INEC about potential irregularities in the nomination process for governorship candidates in Ogun, Enugu, and Niger states. The motion for Sani’s suspension was moved by the National Legal Adviser and supported by other party leaders.

In addition to the suspension, Sani is barred from performing any duties as National Chairman until an investigation is completed. This means he cannot issue directives, sign documents, or represent the party in any official capacity. All communications with INEC will now go through the National Secretary.

The party has also ordered a full audit of its finances to clarify its financial status and ensure proper accounting of funds from nomination form sales. The ADP reiterated its support for its candidates, including presidential candidate Aliyu Ibn Abbas and vice-presidential candidate Chinazam Ike.

When asked for a comment, Sani replied with a text message stating, “No comments.”
