Iran Dismisses Impact of Israeli Elections Amid Rising Tensions

Iran’s foreign ministry stated on Monday that the upcoming Israeli elections, where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in a close contest, will have no impact on Iran. Esmaeil Baqaei, a spokesman for the ministry, expressed that it does not matter who leads Israel, as the country has only brought violence to the region.

The Israeli legislative elections are set to occur on Tuesday, against a backdrop of increasing threats from Israel and the United States to launch renewed attacks on Iran. This tension follows the start of a conflict in late February.

Netanyahu has recently emphasized that the only way to eliminate the threat from Iran is to change its government. He mentioned on Sunday in an interview with Israel’s Channel 14 that he has directed the Mossad (Israel’s national intelligence agency) and the Israel Defense Forces to work towards overthrowing the Iranian regime.

Baqaei responded to Netanyahu’s comments, labeling them as “empty threats” and indicative of desperation.
