Troops Arrest Notorious Terrorist and Dismantle Hideouts in Zamfara Forest

Troops from the Joint Task Force North West, known as Operation Fansan Yamma, have arrested a suspected terrorist in Kaduna State. The arrest took place in the Kagarko Local Government Area on November 5, as part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region.

The suspect, named Auta Maikyala, was apprehended at a hospital where he sought treatment for a gunshot wound. This injury was reportedly sustained during a clash with a rival group. According to Captain Tamuno Sinivie, the Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Maikyala is believed to have participated in multiple attacks, kidnappings, and cattle thefts.

On the same day, troops conducted operations in several villages in Zamfara, including Aljummu Hausa, Aljummu Fulani, and Tunga Magaji. These operations aimed to clear out terrorist hideouts and improve safety for local residents.

Additionally, the Nigerian Air Force carried out air strikes targeting specific locations in the Babban Doka and Kuyumbana Forest areas of Zamfara. These sites are thought to be linked to a wanted terrorist leader known as Dogo Gide. The air operations were based on reliable intelligence indicating that terrorists were gathering in the area to plan further criminal activities.

Captain Sinivie emphasized that the troops are maintaining control over the area and are committed to protecting lives and property. He also encouraged the public to share any information about suspected terrorist activities to aid security efforts.
