Wike to Recommend Julius Adamu for FCT Education Commission Chair

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has announced plans to recommend Julius Adamu for the position of Chairman of the FCT Universal Basic Education Commission. This comes after Adamu, a former candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, withdrew from the Bwari Area Council chairmanship election in favor of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Joshua Ishaku.

Wike made this announcement in a video shared on social media by his media aide. He noted that he only became aware of Adamu during the recent council elections, describing him as a strong candidate. Wike explained that he had discussions with local leaders and decided it was best for Ishaku to be the candidate for the election.

During a town hall meeting in Bwari, Wike shared how he persuaded Adamu to step aside for Ishaku, citing the need for unity ahead of the next presidential election. Adamu agreed to withdraw, prioritizing the interests of the Bwari community and supporting Ishaku’s candidacy.

Wike expressed his intention to send Adamu’s name to President Bola Tinubu for the education commission role immediately after the meeting. He emphasized the importance of working together to support the President and other APC candidates in the upcoming 2027 elections.

Wike’s comments were met with enthusiasm from attendees, including Joshua Ishaku, who thanked the minister for his support. Wike encouraged the community to rally behind Tinubu and the APC to ensure their success in the elections.
