Nigeria’s First Ebola Patient Evacuated to Switzerland for Treatment

The Nigerian government has confirmed that the country’s first Ebola virus patient was evacuated from Abuja to Switzerland on Monday for additional medical treatment. The patient was accompanied by her spouse, who has shown no symptoms of the virus.

According to Muhammad Ali, a government official, the patient’s health had improved significantly before the evacuation. He described her as “clinically much improved, stable, conscious, and communicating.” However, he cautioned that despite her improvement, she could still be infectious.

Ali praised the medical staff for their care and the public health personnel for ensuring the evacuation followed strict health protocols. He emphasized that all public health measures are still in place to contain the virus.

Further updates on the patient’s condition are expected later today after she and her spouse arrive in Switzerland. Ali urged Nigerians to stay alert and seek information from reliable sources.
