Thierno Barry Shines with Two Goals in Everton’s 3-1 Win Over Coventry

Thierno Barry scored two goals as Everton defeated Coventry 3-1 on Friday, moving up to fifth place in the Premier League. The match took place at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton initially fell behind when Yann Gboho scored for Coventry early in the second half. However, Barry quickly turned the game around, scoring twice within five minutes. This performance has led some, including Everton’s manager David Moyes, to suggest that Barry could rival Manchester City star Erling Haaland as the league’s top striker.

Barry has now scored ten goals this season, surpassing his total from last season. In his last seven games across all competitions, he has netted six times. His strong performance comes after a tough first season with Everton following his transfer from Villarreal.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall added a third goal for Everton in the final minutes, marking the team’s third consecutive win. This victory also allowed Moyes to celebrate matching Harry Catterick’s record of 592 games as Everton’s manager.

On the other hand, Coventry’s manager Frank Lampard expressed frustration over two penalty appeals that were denied, which he believed could have changed the outcome of the match. Coventry, currently in 16th place, has lost three of their last four games.

In their first meeting since 2001, Coventry had a chance to take the lead early on but missed a clear opportunity. They did manage to score first, but Barry’s quick response and additional goal from Dewsbury-Hall sealed the win for Everton.
