Russian Drone Strike Kills 14 at Dnipro Train Station in Ukraine

A Russian drone struck a crowded platform at a train station in Dnipro, Ukraine, on Thursday, killing at least 14 people. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the attack “horrific” and urged allies to respond. The strike occurred amid ongoing efforts to maintain a fragile ceasefire in the nearby city of Oleshky, which has been under Russian control since 2022.

The attack hit a platform where both commuter and passenger trains were present. By Thursday afternoon, Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Oleksandr Ganzha reported that another 14 people were injured, with six in serious condition, including an 11-year-old boy.

Zelensky condemned the attack and insisted that sanctions against Russia should remain in place as long as the war continues. Images from the scene showed bodies on the platform and damaged trains, highlighting the devastating impact of the strike.

French President Emmanuel Macron also expressed outrage, stating that it is unacceptable for Russia to continue escalating violence against civilians. He emphasized the need for more than just a temporary ceasefire.

In recent weeks, Russia has increased its drone and missile attacks across Ukraine, targeting energy facilities in an attempt to disrupt the country as winter approaches. The Kremlin has stated it will not reduce its military efforts, even as discussions for peace talks are set to resume next month.

Meanwhile, separate attacks in other parts of Ukraine resulted in additional casualties, including the deaths of two teenagers in Chernigiv and three people in Kremenchuk.
