Ondo State and NDLEA Join Forces to Combat Youth Drug Abuse
The Ondo State Government is working with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to fight drug and substance abuse among youth. This partnership will focus on raising awareness and providing prevention programs across all 18 local government areas in the state.
Henry Okunomo, the Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Youth and Social Inclusion, announced the collaboration after a meeting with NDLEA officials. The meeting, led by NDLEA State Commander Folayemi Adeyemo Gabriel, aimed to discuss ways to work together to tackle drug abuse.
The planned programs will include public awareness campaigns, initiatives aimed at young people, and community engagement efforts. Okunomo’s office will also help maintain awareness campaigns in schools, communities, and youth organizations throughout the state.
Okunomo emphasized that drug and substance abuse poses a significant threat to the future of young people and society as a whole. He expressed commitment to ensuring that youth are informed and guided towards positive activities.
The partnership reflects the administration’s focus on youth development, social inclusion, and public safety. It aims not only to raise awareness about drug abuse but also to protect the future of young people and promote a healthier community.
