Nigerian Woman Calls for Ban on DNA Tests, Claims They Harm Marriages
A Nigerian woman has urged for a ban on DNA paternity testing, saying it harms marriages and families. She shared her views in a video on X, questioning why married men would need to conduct DNA tests on children born during their marriages if they trust their wives.
She believes that any child born during a marriage should be accepted by the husband, regardless of the wife’s faithfulness. She stated, “Men are always cheating, but when a woman cheats and brings in another child, it’s always a problem.” According to her, if a man truly trusts his wife, he should not feel the need for a DNA test.
The woman emphasized that conducting such tests indicates a lack of trust. “If you must conduct the DNA, that means you don’t trust her. Why are you married to her in the first place?” she asked. She repeatedly called for DNA testing to be banned, claiming it is damaging homes and complicating marriages.
She compared today’s marriages to those of previous generations, arguing that DNA testing was not common in the past. “Our forefathers did not conduct DNA. Any child that was born under their roof is their child automatically,” she said.
Additionally, she suggested that infidelity might sometimes be a mistake, stating that a woman who cheats could feel remorse without revealing her actions to her husband out of fear. She questioned why a husband would seek a DNA test if he wants to maintain a peaceful marriage, suggesting that such actions could lead to conflict.
Her comments have sparked a lively debate online about trust, infidelity, and the role of DNA testing in relationships.
