FCT Minister Wike Urges Nigerians to Re-elect President Tinubu in 2027

Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, has shared reasons why Nigerians should support President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections. He spoke during a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

Wike expressed his commitment to his role as FCT Minister, stating, “I enjoy my job, and I’m committed to it.” He acknowledged the pressure to deliver results but emphasized it was a positive challenge.

According to Wike, the Ogoni people have seen significant benefits from President Tinubu’s empowerment programs. He mentioned that if someone told them not to support Tinubu, they would find that hard to accept.

Wike also defended the current government’s record on security, claiming it has done more than any previous administration to combat insecurity in Nigeria. He responded to criticisms from political rivals, particularly targeting former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, questioning his past leadership and financial decisions.

He criticized Amaechi’s record in Rivers State, pointing out issues with funds allocated for state projects that were never completed. Wike said, “How can I support such a person?” He also dismissed Amaechi’s chances in the upcoming elections, stating that he did not perform well in previous elections.

Wike addressed the political landscape, noting that conditions have changed since the last elections. He acknowledged the popularity of candidates like Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso but suggested that campaigning dynamics have shifted.

In closing, Wike reiterated his belief that Nigerians are aware of the shortcomings of other candidates and expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership as they approach the elections.
