IFC and Access Holdings Join Forces to Enhance Trade Finance in Africa

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, has teamed up with Access Holdings Plc to boost trade finance and support business growth in Africa. This partnership aims to help African businesses access both regional and international markets.

The agreement was signed on November 4, 2026, during the Africa Financial Industry Summit in Luanda, Angola. It is part of Access Holdings’ plan to attract investment from development finance institutions and other investors to support its growth.

Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of Access Holdings, emphasized that the partnership reflects a commitment to strengthening financial institutions in Africa. He stated that strong financial institutions are essential for the continent’s growth.

According to Aig-Imoukhuede, this investment will enhance Access Group’s ability to finance businesses and facilitate trade, ultimately benefiting the communities they serve. He noted that the goal is to turn their scale across Africa into real value for businesses and trade.

Ethiopis Tafara, IFC Regional Vice President for Africa, highlighted the importance of expanding access to trade finance. He mentioned that this partnership would help African businesses grow, enter new markets, and create jobs.

The collaboration aligns with IFC’s strategy to mobilize private capital and improve access to finance, aiming to strengthen financial markets and create opportunities for business expansion across Africa.
