Keyamo Criticizes Opposition for ‘Rig and Die’ Election Claim Ahead of 2027 Vote

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has spoken out against opposition politicians regarding the controversial slogan ‘rig and die’ as the 2027 general elections approach. Keyamo stated that this slogan, popularized by former Deputy President of the Senate Ovie Omo-Agege, will leave the opposition with no excuses if they lose the elections.

In a post on his X account, Keyamo sarcastically suggested that those using the slogan should be prepared to explain how many people they killed on election day to support their claims of rigging. He argued that if the elections are conducted fairly, the opposition will not be able to blame their losses on rigging.

Keyamo said, “The new buzz phrase ‘rig and die’ should excite all of us and we should all embrace it.” He believes that if the opposition loses in a fair election, they will not be able to hide their defeat behind allegations of rigging.

The slogan was introduced by Omo-Agege during a campaign event in Delta State on October 23. Omo-Agege, who is running for a Senate seat, warned that anyone who manipulates the election would face severe consequences, stating, “If you don’t value your life, come and rig the election.” He emphasized that this slogan is a warning against electoral fraud.

After facing backlash for his comments, Omo-Agege defended his statement through his media aide, saying it was aimed at those who manipulate results and steal election materials, not at innocent voters.
