Tinubu Orders Massive Security Hunt After Terrorists Kidnap Mosque Worshippers in Niger State

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered Nigeria’s military and intelligence agencies to launch an immediate, full-scale rescue operation following a deadly mass abduction across rural communities in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

The presidential directive follows a raid in which armed gunmen stormed the Kpenya village mosque in Dekara District during Friday prayers. The assailants surrounded the worship center, forcibly abducting worshippers alongside women, children, and elderly residents. Borgu Local Government Chairman Abdullahi Mohammed Nasir confirmed that over 60 people were taken captive, including the village head of Ka’ada and the 90-year-old father of the Dekar District Head.

In a official statement issued by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed outrage over the assault, describing the bandits as “enemies of peace and enemies of humanity who will not go scot-free”. The President instructed the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the DSS to deploy joint tactical units and maintain regular briefings on the progress of the operation until all abducted citizens are accounted for.

Offering his condolences to families who lost loved ones during the attack, President Tinubu reassured citizens that the federal government stands firmly with the people of Niger State. The President declared that terror will not intimidate Nigeria, pledging all necessary logistical and security reinforcement to protect vulnerable communities across the region.
