President Tinubu Mourns the Death of Chief Ralph Obioha, Pro-Democracy Leader

President Bola Tinubu has shared his sadness over the death of Chief Ralph Obioha, a well-respected statesman and former lawmaker. Chief Obioha was also a significant figure in Nigeria’s fight for democracy. The President offered his condolences to Obioha’s family, his community, the people of Abia State, and all those mourning his loss.

In a statement released by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised Chief Obioha as a founding member and leader of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO). He highlighted Obioha’s dedication to democratic governance, especially during the struggle to restore democracy after the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

The President noted that Obioha’s commitment to democracy came at a great personal cost. Despite facing numerous challenges, he remained firm in his belief that Nigeria’s future depended on democracy, justice, and the people’s right to choose their leaders.

President Tinubu emphasized that while time may fade memories, the contributions of those who stood strong during tough times should never be forgotten. He described Chief Obioha as a courageous individual who made significant sacrifices for democracy.

In his tribute, the President stated, “His passing is a loss to his family, his community, and the nation. We will remember him for his courage, convictions, and service to Nigeria.” He extended his deepest sympathies to Obioha’s loved ones and prayed for their comfort during this difficult time.

President Tinubu concluded by saying that the memory of Chief Ralph Obioha should inspire future generations to uphold the values of courage, sacrifice, and conviction in building a better nation.
