Governor Mutfwang Launches Reconstruction of Key 41km Road in Plateau State

The governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has officially launched the reconstruction of the 41-kilometre Bisichi–Fan–Mangu Halle Road. This project is designed to improve connectivity and boost economic activities in the surrounding communities.

During the flag-off ceremony, Mutfwang emphasized that the road is crucial for linking nearby communities. Once completed, it is expected to reduce travel time, enhance road safety, and provide better access to markets, healthcare, schools, and other essential services.

The governor explained that the project was initially awarded in December 2012 to Eighteen Engineering International Construction Company. Although some work was completed, the road’s condition worsened due to increased traffic, prompting the need for a comprehensive upgrade.

Mutfwang stated, “Today we are not merely flagging off a road project; we are laying another foundation for progress, prosperity, and sustainable development in Plateau State.” He noted that this road would complement other significant projects, such as the Foron–Bakin Kogi–Kadunu–Gindiri Road, further enhancing connectivity across the state.

The governor highlighted that farmers would benefit from improved access to markets, while businesses would see reduced transportation costs. He urged local communities to protect the project during and after construction and instructed contractors and supervising ministries to follow quality standards closely.

He concluded by thanking the host communities for their support and patience, calling the reconstruction a vital step toward strengthening social and economic ties in Plateau State.
