Search Underway for Victims of Nigerian Air Force Plane Crash in Ondo State
Authorities are conducting a search operation following a Nigerian Air Force plane crash in Igbokoda, Ondo State. The crash occurred on Monday morning around 9 am, involving an aircraft that had 25 people on board, including 20 passengers and five crew members.
The Nigerian Navy and Marine Police are working together to find the bodies of the victims and the wreckage of the aircraft, which went down in a swampy area near a Naval Base. Police Commissioner Felix Ohuagwu, who visited the crash site, confirmed that there were no survivors.
Local residents reported hearing a loud noise before the aircraft sank into the swamp. As the search continues, the Navy has restricted access to the crash site due to the influx of curious residents and sympathizers.
The Nigerian Air Force has released the names of the deceased and expressed deep condolences to their families. Air Commodore Ejodame stated that the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, is deeply saddened by the incident and has promised support to the bereaved families.
An investigation into the crash is underway to determine what caused the accident. The Air Force has urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information and to respect the privacy of the families affected.
