Police Stop Kidnap Plot Against Abuja Prophetess, Four Arrested
The Nigeria Police Force has thwarted a kidnapping attempt aimed at a prophetess and assistant pastor in Abuja. Four suspects were arrested during the operation, which involved a homemade firearm and a vehicle intended for the crime.
According to police officials, the plot was alarming because some suspects attended the same church as the intended victim, identified as Prophetess Elizabeth. Reports indicate that after she shared her personal and business successes in church, some members began planning her abduction.
One suspect, David Obaje, had previously worked as Elizabeth’s driver and had been part of the church for about four years, giving him insight into her daily routines. Another suspect, David Dennis, had been a church member for six years and served as a bodyguard to the senior pastor.
The suspects allegedly coordinated their plan using a WhatsApp group and arranged for an accomplice from Kogi State to join them. They intended to ambush Elizabeth after an evening church service on October 1, making it appear as if her car was involved in an accident.
Police recovered the vehicle and the firearm believed to be intended for the kidnapping. The weapon was reportedly bought from a vigilante group for a significant amount. Investigators also found a security uniform that was part of the suspects’ preparation.
The police were able to prevent the kidnapping after receiving intelligence about the plot. They have urged the public to be cautious about sharing personal information and advised churches to enhance security measures during services.
Authorities have pledged to continue their efforts to disrupt criminal activities and protect citizens from such threats.
