Peter Obi Urges Nigerians to Prioritize Unity in Upcoming Elections

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has urged Nigerians to prioritize the country’s unity as they prepare for the 2027 general elections. He emphasized the need for a leader who can bring the nation together, stating that a divided country cannot achieve meaningful progress.

Speaking during a global digital town hall meeting, Obi addressed both local and international audiences about the importance of voter engagement and election security. He encouraged citizens to protect their votes and remain at polling stations until the counting is complete.

Obi highlighted the current divisions in Nigeria, which he described as being along ethnic and religious lines. He pointed out that poverty and insecurity affect all Nigerians, regardless of their background. He stated, “No tribe enjoys greater security than another,” underscoring the need for a leader who can foster unity and improve national security.

During the virtual gathering, Obi called for the expansion of polling agents and collaboration with other political parties to ensure fair elections. He warned against allowing money or intimidation to influence electoral choices, stressing that accepting bribes could undermine the nation’s future.

He also urged the government to provide security agencies with the necessary resources to effectively protect citizens. Obi called for a president who will lead decisively and ensure that security personnel are well-equipped and supported.

On election day, he reiterated the importance of voters staying at polling units until their votes are counted, emphasizing active participation in the electoral process.
