NSCDC Dismantles Criminal Gang Along Ebonyi-Benue Border

Operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ebonyi State have successfully dismantled a criminal group operating along the Ebonyi-Benue border. This operation resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, live ammunition, and several dangerous items.

The raid targeted hideouts used by criminals and cult groups in the Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi and nearby Benue State. It followed a week of intelligence gathering and was carried out by the Command’s Intelligence and Investigation Department along with the State Commandant’s Special Squad.

During a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Abakaliki, State Commandant Francis Nnadi confirmed the success of the operation. He praised the professionalism of the officers involved in the raid against the fleeing suspects and their associates.

Among the items recovered during the operation were one AK-47 rifle, a double-loaded magazine, four rounds of live ammunition, a locally-made pistol, a pump-action gun, five tactical knives, and various criminal charms.

Commandant Nnadi issued a warning to criminal groups in the area, particularly ahead of the upcoming general elections. He stated that the NSCDC, in cooperation with other security agencies, is committed to eliminating crime in Ebonyi State. He reassured residents of border areas and the entire state of strong security measures leading up to and during the elections.

He encouraged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist security agencies in maintaining law and order. A manhunt is currently underway to locate and capture the suspects who fled during the operation.
