SDP Plans to Address Omission of Governorship Candidates with INEC
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) is taking steps to address the omission of its governorship candidates from the list for the 2027 elections. This issue affects candidates in Oyo, Bauchi, Benue, and Sokoto states.
The party has started efforts to correct these errors and is confident that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will resolve the omissions quickly. SDP plans to use a 14-day period allowed under the Electoral Act 2026 to make these corrections.
Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, expressed concern over the missing names of candidates, including Prof. Sebastine Hon in Benue and Mogaji Olusegun Agboola in Oyo. He noted that this unexpected error has caused worry among supporters in the affected states.
Aiyenigba reassured supporters that the party is treating the situation seriously and is working to fix the issue. He encouraged candidates to continue their campaign activities while the party seeks to resolve the matter.
The SDP remains committed to ensuring that all candidates are properly listed and represented in the upcoming elections.
