Nigeria Customs Generates Over N302 Billion from Apapa Port in October

The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) announced on Thursday that it generated ₦302.95 billion in October 2026. This amount is about ₦20.16 billion more than the ₦282.79 billion collected in September 2026, showing a month-on-month growth of around 7.13 percent.

This revenue collection marks another significant achievement for the Command, following a record of over ₦323 billion in July 2026. The Command’s leadership under Comptroller Murtala Mu’azu, who took over on September 29, 2026, has focused on improving revenue generation while ensuring smooth trade operations.

Comptroller Mu’azu has emphasized the importance of engaging with stakeholders, such as importers, exporters, and shipping companies. A meeting held on October 5, 2026, aimed to tackle challenges like delays in cargo clearance and other issues that affect port users.

To further enhance operations, the Command is reviewing processes to reduce unnecessary delays. This includes streamlining how certain documents are processed to improve coordination among departments while still ensuring compliance with regulations.

In terms of enforcement, the Command reported seizing 437 sachets of cannabis weighing 392.5 kilograms during October. The total value of these drugs is approximately ₦196.13 million. These actions reflect the Command’s commitment to prevent illegal trade and protect public health.

Overall, the Apapa Area Command aims to continue improving its revenue performance while fostering partnerships with stakeholders to enhance the efficiency of port operations.
