Nigerian Air Force Continues Recovery Efforts at Igbokoda Crash Site

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is continuing its recovery operations at the site of the crashed ATR 42-500 aircraft, known as NAF 931, in Igbokoda, Ondo State. This effort has now reached Day 14 as of Sunday.

According to a statement from Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, the team has been actively pumping water from the site. This has helped to lower the water level significantly, allowing the recovery team to work more effectively.

Ejodame mentioned that the team is also reinforcing the embankment with sandbags to prevent any collapses and to ensure stability during the ongoing de-watering process. He highlighted that the operation is complex and requires continuous engineering efforts under challenging conditions.

Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, the Chief of the Air Staff, praised the commitment of the recovery personnel and partner agencies involved in the operation. He specifically thanked Hitech Construction Company for their important support. Aneke emphasized the NAF’s dedication to completing the recovery safely and methodically while also assisting in the investigation of the crash.
