Lagos Deputy Governor Shares Vision for 2027 Election with Young Leaders

Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, recently shared his vision for the state ahead of the 2027 governorship election. He spoke during a private meeting with 150 young business executives and founders in Ikoyi. The event, called “Lagos: The Next Chapter,” was organized by the real estate firm 7-Fifteen Capital to encourage dialogue between government leaders and the private sector.

During the meeting, Hamzat emphasized his focus on innovation, inclusion, and infrastructure. He aims to improve the business environment, attract investments, and enhance the quality of life for residents. He stated that his administration would build on existing achievements while also prioritizing education, healthcare, support for young people and small businesses, and security.

“The next chapter for Lagos is going to be about building on the progress we have already made and taking the state to a new level of innovation, inclusion, and infrastructure,” Hamzat said. He also expressed a desire to make Lagos a leading center for education and the safest mega-city in Africa.

Hamzat introduced his Digital Lagos 2.0 proposal, which aims to use advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and blockchain to improve government efficiency and establish Lagos as a technology hub.

The event included a discussion where participants engaged with Hamzat on various topics, including sustainability, urban planning, the creative economy, tourism, and partnerships between public and private sectors.

Tope Adekoya, CEO and Co-Founder of 7-Fifteen Capital, noted that the meeting aimed to connect young business leaders with policymakers. He highlighted the growing influence of young entrepreneurs in Lagos and their contributions to the city’s development.

Adesuwa Belo-Osagie, Deputy CEO and Co-Founder, added that their commitment goes beyond business interests. She emphasized that shaping the future of Lagos requires collaboration among public servants, businesses, and engaged citizens.

The event concluded with networking opportunities and an exhibition showcasing the company’s projects in Lagos and Abuja.
