DNA Samples Collected from Son and Late Singer Mohbad in Paternity Case

The paternity dispute involving Master Liam, the son of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, has progressed with the collection of DNA samples. This took place on October 31, 2026, under court supervision.

The court allowed Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi Aloba, to request a DNA test to confirm Liam’s paternity. Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, also previously asked for a DNA test to determine if Liam is his biological grandson. However, there were delays in addressing his request.

Security personnel were present during the sample collection to ensure everything went smoothly. Family members, including Mohbad’s mother, Abosede, and his brother, Adura, were there, and the event became emotional when they identified the late singer’s remains.

The samples were collected at Mainland General Hospital, also known as the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Yaba. They were then sent to the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre for analysis, along with Liam’s samples.

Omowunmi’s lawyer, Barrister Kabiru, mentioned that no date has been set for when the DNA results will be released. He noted that the court would inform the involved parties once the results are available. This DNA test is part of an ongoing public interest case that began after Mohbad’s death in September 2023.

The results are expected to provide scientific evidence that will help the court settle the paternity issue.
