Kidnap Suspects Admit Guilt and Seek Forgiveness in Court

Two men are on trial for kidnapping 20 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Imo State. During a court hearing, they admitted to making confessions that were recorded and written down by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The defendants, Usman Aliyu and Babangida Aliyu, asked the court for forgiveness and requested to be set free. They confirmed that they made their confessions voluntarily and signed the documents in front of their lawyer.

Earlier, the court accepted the confessions as evidence. The men are facing serious charges, including conspiracy, hostage-taking, and having illegal firearms.

In a related case, another trial is ongoing for two other suspects accused of kidnapping and possessing illegal firearms. A witness identified them as the kidnappers from an incident that took place on October 4, 2026.

After the hearing, the judge, Justice Emeka Orafu, postponed both cases until November 6 for further proceedings.
