Kaduna Government Denies Fake Claim of N2.3tn Spending for APC Rally

The Kaduna State Government has rejected a viral letter that falsely claims Governor Uba Sani approved N2.3 trillion for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign kickoff. Officials called the letter fake and misleading, saying it aimed to harm the governor’s reputation.

Ahmed Maiyaki, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, made the announcement in a statement on Saturday in Kaduna. He pointed out that the letter, dated October 18, 2026, had several inconsistencies that raised doubts about its authenticity. It was supposedly addressed to Sen. Abdulazeez Yari, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

Maiyaki highlighted that the claimed amount of N2.3 trillion was more than double the entire budget for Kaduna State in 2026, which is set at about N986 billion. He stressed that there were no official records supporting such a large expenditure.

Further, the commissioner noted errors in the letter, including a misspelling of the governor’s name and a suspicious signature. He stated, “The Kaduna State Government categorically disowns this document. Gov. Uba Sani neither authored nor authorized the purported letter, and no N2.3 trillion was budgeted, approved, or released.”

Maiyaki expressed concern over what he described as a campaign of misinformation aimed at discrediting the governor ahead of the 2027 elections. He warned that creating and spreading false documents could lead to criminal charges.

He urged political rivals to rely on credible evidence when questioning government spending and called for investigations into the letter’s origin. The government remains committed to transparency and responsible management of public funds.
