House of Reps Candidate Arobo Hails New Electricity Law, Says It Will Cut Poverty and Transform Farming

The newly amended Ondo State Electric Power Sector Law has drawn strong praise from legal practitioner and All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, Barr. Abdulghani Rotimi Arobo, who described the legislation as a game-changer for economic growth and poverty reduction.

In an official statement issued through his campaign organization, GRA4MHR, Arobo commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for taking full advantage of the decentralization of Nigeria’s national power grid. Arobo stated that giving the state independent authority over its power sector creates an enabling environment for sustainable energy delivery.

Focusing on the direct benefits for agrarian communities, Arobo advocated for the immediate development of dedicated industrial and agricultural processing clusters across Owo and Ose Local Government Areas. He explained that erratic electricity supply has historically crippled the agricultural value chain, emphasizing that reliable power will allow farmers to process harvests locally, eliminate severe post-harvest losses, and boost food security.

The amended power framework establishes the Ondo State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC), enforces compulsory metering, and institutes legal protections for community-funded transformers and power lines. Arobo stressed that these regulatory safeguards and anti-sabotage provisions will build investor confidence, unlock private capital for mini-grids, and power micro-enterprises throughout the state.
