Francis Duru, a well-known actor in Nollywood, has died at the age of 57. According to a family source, he passed away around 10 p.m. on Thursday at the National Hospital in Abuja. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo expressed his grief on Instagram, calling Duru one of Nigeria’s most talented and versatile performers. He wrote, “A consummate actor has left the stage. Rest in peace my brother.”

Duru was known for his creative roles in films, including his portrayal of Ahanna in the movie Rattle Snake and appearances in One Chance. His passing follows a personal tragedy two years ago when he lost his 15-year-old son, Ifeanyi, whom he honored as a courageous fighter.

More updates are expected as the community reflects on Duru’s contributions to Nigerian cinema.
