Changes to IELTS Testing in Nigeria Starting October 2026
Starting October 1, 2026, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) will not be offered at the MOD test centre in Nigeria. Instead, testing will continue at various IDP IELTS Nigeria test centres.
Test takers will still have access to numerous test dates and locations throughout Nigeria. This change will not impact the validity of IELTS results that were previously issued through the MOD test centre.
For the latest information on test dates, bookings, and preparation resources, test takers should refer to the official IDP IELTS channels. More details can be found at ielts.idp.com.
IELTS is a widely recognized English language proficiency test, co-owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge Assessment English. It is taken by over 3.5 million people each year in more than 140 countries and is accepted by over 13,500 organizations worldwide.
IDP Education, a global leader in helping students study abroad, is a co-owner of IELTS. They provide support to students throughout the process, from finding a course to taking the test.
