Atiku Criticizes Tinubu Over Security for Campaign Posters in Kaduna
Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, has criticized President Bola Tinubu. His comments come after reports that security forces are guarding Tinubu’s campaign billboards in Kaduna State ahead of the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign launch.
In a post on X, Atiku pointed out the contrast between the protection of Tinubu’s posters and the ongoing violence faced by many Nigerians. He stated, “Bola, you claim Nigerians love you, yet your billboards in Kaduna require security guards. Bandits raid villages, terrorists attack communities, and families live in fear.”
Atiku emphasized that the security for Tinubu’s campaign materials reflects poorly on the government’s priorities. He urged Tinubu to focus on protecting the citizens with the same urgency as he protects his campaign image.
The APC presidential campaign rally is set to take place on Saturday, October 24, with Tinubu and other top officials in attendance. In preparation for the event, the Kaduna State Police Command announced that heavy vehicles would be restricted from the city from midnight until 8 PM on Saturday. This decision was made to ease traffic and ensure smooth movement during the rally.
Police Commissioner Muhammad Rabiu mentioned that security measures are being implemented, including the deployment of tactical teams and crowd-control personnel. He also warned against violence and urged political parties and their supporters to cooperate with security agencies to maintain peace during the campaign event.
