APC Supporters Attacked in Katsina During Governor’s Campaign Rally
Violence erupted in Yankara town, Katsina State, on Saturday when suspected attackers targeted supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a campaign rally for Governor Dikko Umaru Radda. Several people were injured, and a campaign vehicle was set on fire.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers ambushed the APC supporters as they were traveling to the rally in Faskari Local Government Area. This disruption caused panic among local residents and blocked traffic along the main road. A witness claimed that two APC supporters suffered serious injuries, but authorities had not confirmed this information by Saturday evening.
According to Alhaji Nura Sule Yandaki, the Caucus Chairman of the Musa Adamu Network, he and his team were on their way to the rally when the violence broke out. He noted that the chaos began when members of another Islamic group were holding a Maulud procession, which some individuals allegedly used as cover to attack vehicles carrying APC supporters.
The Secretary of the Musa Adamu Network, Shamsuddeen Sani Lema, condemned the attack and called on security agencies to take action against those responsible. He emphasized that political events should not take place in a violent atmosphere.
Despite the incident, Governor Radda went ahead with the Tinubu-Dikko 2027 Campaign Rally in Faskari, where he spoke about his administration’s achievements in healthcare, security, education, and infrastructure. He highlighted the opening of the Faskari General Hospital, fulfilling a promise made during previous campaigns.
Radda also discussed ongoing projects in road construction and community development, reaffirming his commitment to transparency and inclusive governance. The Director-General of the Tinubu-Dikko 2027 Campaign Council praised the turnout at the rally and urged party members to strengthen grassroots efforts ahead of the upcoming elections.
