Agricultural Transformation Central to Yayi’s 2027 Campaign in Ogun State

A leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Mawutin Nudewhenu Deji, has stated that agricultural transformation is a key part of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola’s (Yayi) agenda for the 2027 elections. He made these comments while discussing the ITESIWAJU agenda, where the ‘A’ stands for Agricultural Transformation.

Nudewhenu, who is part of the APC Campaign Council, highlighted that agriculture is vital for the people of Ogun State, especially in Ipokia Local Government. He noted that Yayi has already shown his commitment to agriculture by donating tractors and modern farming tools to farmers in Ogun West Senatorial District.

This initiative has reportedly increased food production in the area, benefiting markets throughout Ogun State. “Hundreds of hectares that were previously unused are now being farmed,” Nudewhenu said. He also mentioned that the cost of preparing land for farming has dropped significantly for those involved.

Furthermore, Nudewhenu pointed out that Yayi’s efforts to improve rural infrastructure, such as repairing neglected roads, have helped reduce losses after harvest and made it easier for farmers to transport their goods.

If elected governor, Yayi aims to make Ogun State the Agricultural Capital of the South-West, taking advantage of its proximity to Lagos and its vast arable land. His plans include agreements with markets in Lagos and the establishment of facilities like cold storage and transport hubs.

For Ipokia, Yayi’s agenda includes initiatives for rice production in lowland areas and setting up a facility for turning cassava into ethanol and high-quality flour. He envisions involving young people in farming through mechanization and turning the region into a hub for agricultural exports.

Nudewhenu concluded by quoting former U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, emphasizing that true progress is measured by how well the needs of the less fortunate are met. He expressed confidence that Yayi’s agricultural initiatives will continue to grow if he becomes governor.
