ADC Campaign Responds to Alake’s Criticism of Atiku Amid Rising Living Costs

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council has responded to Information Minister Dele Alake’s recent accusations against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. The ADC claims that no amount of political propaganda can hide the public’s frustration with rising living costs under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In a statement, Phrank Shaibu, the ADC’s Director of Strategic Communication, emphasized that Nigerians are more worried about the high costs of food, fuel, and transportation than about claims of manipulated media. He challenged Alake to provide proof linking Atiku or the ADC to any alleged fake news.

Shaibu pointed out that petrol prices have soared to about ₦1,400 per litre, diesel prices are above ₦2,000, and food inflation is around 20%. He argued that these economic pressures are real and cannot be dismissed as false information.

The ADC also referenced a World Bank report on poverty, stating that many Nigerians are struggling financially due to the government’s economic policies. Shaibu criticized the safety of supporters attending Tinubu’s campaign rally in Kaduna, questioning why a campaign billboard needed protection and highlighting reports of supporters sleeping on the streets.

He condemned the treatment of supporters as political exploitation, saying that forcing citizens to endure long journeys for rally appearances is not true leadership. The ADC also questioned why Tinubu plans to campaign in only 12 states, suggesting that the ruling party is trying to create a false impression of widespread support.

Shaibu concluded that the APC’s economic record, rather than its attacks on the opposition, will determine its success in the upcoming elections. He expressed confidence that voters will choose a different economic path under Atiku, stating, ‘Bola made life expensive; Atiku will make Nigeria affordable again!’
