Police Launch Search for 20 Abducted Corps Members in Imo State
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has sent Deputy Inspector-General of Police Shehu Nadada to Imo State. He is in charge of the search for 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps members who were kidnapped along the Owerri-Onitsha Road.
The abduction took place on Thursday, October 1, 2026, near Umunoha in Imo State. The police announced this on Friday through their Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu.
Nadada arrived with two Commissioners of Police to assess the situation and the ongoing rescue efforts. He reviewed strategies for the operation and gave additional instructions to improve the response.
During the assessment, Nadada worked with the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, and other senior officers. Iniedu stated that the search-and-rescue operation has been intensified with more tactical teams and resources deployed to key areas.
The police are also using intelligence to track the suspects and are collaborating with other security agencies. Nadada reassured the public of the police’s commitment to safely rescuing the abducted individuals.
