PDP Candidate Hammed Ademola Joins Oyo APC with Over 3,000 Supporters
Hammed Ademola, the candidate for the People’s Democratic Party in the Ibadan North-East State Constituency 2 for the upcoming 2027 elections, has switched his allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State. He was joined by Adedapo Ojo, an aspirant from the Accord party, along with over 3,000 supporters during a ceremony on Friday.
Ademola, often called Lucky, explained that his choice to leave the PDP was based on the current political landscape in the state. He stated, “I did my due diligence and realized that any ticket outside the APC is a mere tissue paper that cannot take a candidate anywhere in 2027.” He expressed his commitment to working for the APC and Nigeria.
Ojo echoed Ademola’s sentiments, calling the Accord party a political distraction. He urged voters to support the APC instead. “We wasted our time, energy and resources on an unproductive exercise,” he said, reflecting on their previous efforts with Accord.
The Chairman of the APC in Oyo State, Chief Moses Alake-Adeyemo, welcomed the new members and promised them equal opportunities within the party. He encouraged them to contribute to the party’s success in the upcoming elections.
Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the APC’s governorship candidate in Oyo, expressed his happiness about the new members joining the party. He assured voters of an inclusive administration if elected in 2027. Alli also promised timely payment of salaries for civil servants and pensioners, as well as the establishment of ICT hubs across various regions in Oyo State by early 2029.
The event was attended by several party leaders, including the APC deputy governorship candidate, Adesoji Adedeji, and Oyo South Senatorial candidate, Aderemi Oseni.
