War of Words Erupts in Oyo NDC as Party Chairman and Secretary Clash Over Power and Misconduct

The Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has been thrown into turmoil following an open confrontation between the State Chairman, Princess Oyeronke Akinlolu, and the State Secretary, Comrade Okunade Aderoju.

The leadership dispute stems from growing friction over party administration, with accusations centering on gross misconduct, procedural violations, and non-consultation on key policy decisions. Relations between the two top officials broke down completely following disputes over unilateral executive actions and unauthorized committee appointments.

Tensions deepened as executive members and local ward leaders split into opposing camps. Supporters of the state secretary allege that the party chairmanship has been run without consulting the broader executive council, while loyalists of the chairman maintain that the secretary has consistently undermined internal discipline and attempted to sabotage party directives.

The escalating feud has triggered anxiety among party members who worry that the breakdown in executive leadership could disrupt grassroots mobilization efforts across local government councils. In response to the growing rift, concerned party elders are calling on the NDC National Working Committee to institute an independent reconciliation panel to restore order before the crisis permanently divides the party structure.
