Tinubu Celebrates Modi’s 25 Years in Leadership, Calls for Stronger Ties with India

President Bola Tinubu has praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his 25 years of continuous public service. He made this statement in a message congratulating Modi on Wednesday, highlighting the significance of this achievement in a democratic setting.

Modi began his political career in 2001 as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and later became Prime Minister in 2014. Tinubu noted that Modi’s leadership has focused on development, mentioning improvements in infrastructure, digital services, and financial inclusion.

The Nigerian President emphasized that under Modi’s guidance, India has grown into one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing economies, benefiting millions and serving as a model for other nations.

In his message, Tinubu expressed warm congratulations on behalf of Nigeria, recalling Modi’s visit to Abuja in November 2024, where Nigeria honored him with a prestigious award. This visit, according to Tinubu, strengthened the partnership between Nigeria and India in areas such as trade, energy, and security.

Tinubu also pointed out that both nations share democratic values and are influential voices in the Global South. He believes this milestone is an opportunity to celebrate Modi’s service and to reaffirm Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing its relationship with India.
