Sokoto PDP Candidate Calls for Unity and Peace on Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day
The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Sokoto State, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi Sokoto, has called for unity and peace among Nigerians as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.
In a statement, Abdullahi described Nigeria’s independence as a significant milestone. He encouraged citizens to reflect on the sacrifices made by the country’s founding fathers and others who contributed to national unity and development.
Despite the challenges Nigeria faces, he emphasized the importance of building a peaceful and prosperous nation, regardless of differences in ethnicity, religion, or politics. He stated, “Our greatest strength remains the resilience, determination and diversity of its people.”
Abdullahi also highlighted the need for greater tolerance and mutual respect, noting that national development relies on the collective efforts of all citizens. He mentioned initiatives from President Bola Tinubu’s administration, such as the Sokoto-Badagry Highway project and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.
He urged leaders to adopt practical approaches to governance and work closely with community members to promote development. Abdullahi stressed the importance of peaceful elections and securing a decisive victory in the upcoming 2027 elections.
He praised the Armed Forces and security agencies for their sacrifices in defending Nigeria’s peace and security. Abdullahi called on Nigerians to strengthen their bonds of unity and patriotism, reminding them that Nigeria belongs to everyone.
As Sokoto State prepares for future elections, he urged residents to choose credible leaders who are dedicated to the development of both the state and the nation.
