Rivers Police Remove Officers Over Alleged Cult Renovation of Police Station

The Rivers State Police Command has taken action against two senior officers after allegations surfaced that suspected cultists renovated a police station. The officers, including the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Abuloma Police Division, have been removed from their positions while an investigation is underway.

This decision follows a viral video that showed suspected cult members celebrating the completion of the renovation at the police outpost. The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Olugbenga Adepoju, has ordered a thorough investigation to find out if the renovation was approved and if any police officers acted improperly.

According to a statement from the police command, the investigation will look into who financed the renovation and whether they had any connections to police personnel. The police emphasized that they will not tolerate any actions that could harm the integrity of the force.

The police statement also clarified that while they welcome legitimate community support for police facilities, such contributions must not compromise police independence or professional standards. Any officer found to have acted unprofessionally will face disciplinary action.

Residents are encouraged to remain calm and provide any information that could assist in the investigation. The police are committed to maintaining high standards of discipline and accountability among their officers.
