Osun State Launches New Security Project with Advanced Technology
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced a new security initiative aimed at improving safety across the state. This project is in collaboration with Hefei Shengwen Information Technology Company Limited, a firm based in Shanghai.
The announcement was made through a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, in Osogbo. During a meeting with executives from the Chinese company, including Director Cai Jianfei and Manager Nemo Guo, the details of the project were finalized.
The security initiative will feature a modern system that includes drones, artificial intelligence-enabled cameras, and robotics. These technologies will monitor the state continuously, gathering information in real time. A Command and Control Centre will oversee the security status of the entire state.
Key locations such as schools, banks, industries, and bus parks will be included in the coverage. Additionally, a safe-school project and a mobile app for residents will help link them directly to the Command and Control Centre.
Governor Adeleke emphasized the importance of this initiative for protecting citizens and businesses. He mentioned the establishment of a State Security Trust Fund to support these efforts. The governor encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
This announcement comes amid concerns about potential threats in the region, as security agencies have warned of plans by terrorists to disrupt peace in the South-West ahead of the 2027 elections.
