Victor Osimhen Close to Returning from Injury for Galatasaray

Victor Osimhen, a forward for the Super Eagles, is getting closer to returning to the field for Galatasaray. He has been working on his recovery in Nigeria and is expected to make a comeback against Kasımpaşa. This match is important as it comes just before Galatasaray faces Barcelona in the Champions League.

Osimhen missed Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau. He spent part of the international break in Lagos, where he received treatment from a physiotherapist. Galatasaray’s medical team advised him not to join the national team due to his slower-than-expected recovery from a muscle injury.

Initially, Osimhen was included in the squad for the qualifiers but had to withdraw. Taiwo Awoniyi was called up as his replacement. Reports suggest that Osimhen could be ready to play when Galatasaray hosts Kasımpaşa on Friday, October 9.

However, manager Okan Buruk plans to ease Osimhen back into the game. He is likely to come on for about 30 minutes, depending on how the match goes. This strategy will help the team assess his fitness while gradually increasing his playing time.

Osimhen’s injury occurred during a match against İstanbul Başakşehir on September 4, where he scored a goal before leaving the game due to discomfort in his groin. Medical tests revealed a significant strain in his right adductor muscle, which kept him out of several matches, including the Champions League opener against Sporting CP.

Before his injury, Osimhen had a strong start to the season, scoring six goals and providing two assists in his first four league games. Without him, Galatasaray has fallen to second place in the Süper Lig standings. The team hopes that a successful return against Kasımpaşa will help Osimhen regain his form before facing Barcelona.
