NO MORE DELAYS! CBN Takes Charge of Super Eagles’ Bank Alerts as NFF Confirms Players Now Get Paid Directly to Their Accounts!

The age-old drama of Super Eagles players begging for their match bonuses may finally be a thing of the past. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has revealed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has taken over the job of paying players and coaches directly.

This “Straight-to-Bank” system means that the money no longer sits in NFF accounts where it could be delayed or “trapped” by paperwork. Instead, once a victory is confirmed like the recent 4-0 thrashing of Mozambique the list is sent to the CBN, and the bank hits the “send” button.

An NFF official explained that this move was ordered by the Federal Government to make everything transparent. For years, Nigerian football has been stained by stories of players threatening to go on strike during big tournaments because their allowances weren’t paid. Now, with the CBN involved, the players can focus on the pitch, knowing their “bank alerts” are guaranteed.

“We don’t touch the cash anymore,” the official said. “Our job is to provide the names and the account numbers. The CBN handles the rest. This ensures that every kobo goes exactly where it is supposed to go, and it happens fast.”

As the Super Eagles prepare for their 2026 AFCON quarterfinal, the camp is reportedly “happy and motivated.” With their pockets full and their minds clear, the only thing the team has to worry about now is bringing the trophy home to Nigeria.
