NIS and NAFDAC Seek Stronger Ties with Nigerian Army for Better Security

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) are looking to strengthen their partnership with the Nigerian Army. They believe this collaboration is essential for tackling security issues, sharing intelligence, and enforcing public health regulations.

This call for cooperation came during visits to Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, the General Officer Commanding the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, at their headquarters in Ibadan on Friday. The visits were made by Comptroller Ephraim Ogbemudia from the NIS and Dr. Isaac Anjorin Kolawole, the South-West Zonal Director of NAFDAC.

Major General Mahmuda highlighted the importance of working together and sharing information among the Army, NIS, and NAFDAC. He pointed out that no single agency can handle the country’s security problems alone, and that building strong relationships is key to improving responses to crime.

He also encouraged the agencies to maintain good relations with local communities to encourage residents to share valuable information with security forces. He reassured the officials of the Army’s ongoing support, emphasizing that effective partnerships are crucial for protecting lives and property.

Comptroller Ogbemudia praised the Army for its efforts in improving security in the Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State. He thanked the troops for their dedication and noted that a coordinated response from all relevant agencies is necessary for addressing security challenges.

Dr. Kolawole from NAFDAC also expressed gratitude for the Army’s support in regulating food and drug safety. He emphasized the need for continued cooperation to enforce government regulations, particularly those concerning the sale of certain alcoholic beverages. He reiterated that working closely with security agencies is vital for ensuring compliance with safety standards.
