NDLEA Smashes Notorious Jigawa Joints, Arrests Seven and Confiscates Illicit Drugs
Anti-narcotics operatives in Jigawa State have dismantled three high-risk drug joints in Kazaure Local Government Area, arresting seven suspects and seizing nearly 1.3 kilograms of illegal substances.
The targeted raids were carried out under a special exercise tagged “Operation Restore Order” following directives from national leadership to clear out criminal hideouts across all states. According to agency officials, tactical teams launched coordinated strikes on known drug hubs across Kadawa village, the Bagara smoking joint, and the Filin Idi area.
During the multi-day operation, officers apprehended seven individuals aged between 27 and 50 who were allegedly operating and frequenting the hideouts. A total of 1.278 kilograms of banned narcotics were recovered from the locations, including dried cannabis sativa, Exol-5, and prescription opioids like tramadol.
Jigawa State NDLEA leadership declared that the destruction of the illicit dens sends a firm warning that the state will not tolerate drug trafficking or abuse. Authorities assured residents that surveillance will remain tight to keep communities safe, adding that all suspects will be formally charged in court as soon as preliminary investigations are finalized.
