NAHCO Staff Honored for Returning $10,000 Found on Aircraft

The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (nahco aviance) has rewarded Mr. Auwal Dankode, a staff member who found and returned $10,000 while cleaning an aircraft in Kano. Dankode, assigned to clean EgyptAir’s MS 878, discovered the money on seat 25H and promptly handed it over to the airline’s station manager.

The Group Managing Director of NAHCO, Mr. Indranil Gupta, praised Dankode for exemplifying the company’s values of honesty and integrity, noting that he had applied the training he received. Gupta announced a significant cash reward, an instant promotion, and Dankode’s appointment as a NAHCO brand ambassador, saying, “We are truly proud of Auwal. He embodies what NAHCO stands for—honesty, integrity, diligence, and hard work.”

Chief Financial Officer Mr. Adeoye Emiloju also commended Dankode’s integrity, describing it as innate. Chief Operating Officer Mr. Didier Steullet encouraged Dankode to stay grounded and continue his exemplary behavior, advising, “Remain yourself and don’t get carried away by the adulation.”

Group Executive Director Dr. Sola Obabori added, “You’ve become a poster boy of NAHCO not only in Nigeria but globally. In today’s Nigeria, where the value of dollars is very high, returning such a significant amount shows your purity of heart. This is commendable and appreciated by all well-meaning Nigerians.”

Dankode expressed his gratitude, noting that no one from his area had ever worked at the airport and thanking NAHCO for the training and recognition. As the new brand ambassador, Dankode will represent NAHCO at major events nationwide, promote its brand, and have opportunities to travel and engage with top officials and stakeholders.
