Nigerian Game Lagos Life Hits 2 Million Users in Days After Launch

The Lagos Life game, a new browser-based life simulation created in Nigeria, has quickly reached over 2 million players just days after its launch on October 1, 2026. The game’s creator, Shalom Rayhamen, announced this milestone on October 6, along with the addition of Abuja and Port Harcourt to the game.

Rayhamen shared the news on X, stating, “2 MILLION PLAYERS!!! ABUJA AND PORT HARCOURT ARE NOW LIVE! You asked for your cities. I built them.” The game has seen over 100,000 players online at the same time and millions of visits, although these numbers are based on the game’s own dashboard and have not been independently verified.

Lagos Life allows players to create characters and experience a virtual life that reflects everyday situations in Nigeria. Players can take on jobs, manage finances, pay rent, socialize, and explore entertainment options. The game draws inspiration from Rayhamen’s childhood experiences with The Sims and another Nigerian game called Lagos Run.

To play Lagos Life, users simply need to open the game in a web browser, eliminating the need for downloads or gaming consoles. Players start by creating their character and choosing their financial background, which affects their gameplay. They can then find jobs, manage their character’s energy and food needs, and pay rent, all while exploring a virtual city that includes familiar locations from Lagos.

The game is designed to be a multiplayer experience, allowing players to interact with each other in the virtual world. The aim is to progress from merely surviving to building a better life in the game, reflecting some of the challenges of real life.

Despite its engaging gameplay, the virtual currency earned in Lagos Life cannot be converted into real money. The game is meant purely for entertainment, with its scenarios and prices created for gameplay purposes.

Its rapid success can be attributed to its accessibility and relatable setting. Unlike many other games that require expensive equipment or downloads, Lagos Life is easy to access and resonates with its audience by reflecting familiar Nigerian experiences.
