Lagos Governor Surprises Guests by Walking the Runway at Fashion Week
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu surprised attendees by walking the runway at the 2026 Lagos Fashion Week. The event took place at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos and opened last Wednesday.
Sanwo-Olu showcased a traditional-inspired outfit designed by Nigerian designer Ugo Monye. His attire featured a regal off-white look that combined elements of a traditional caftan with a kimono style, complemented by a beige fedora.
As he walked the runway, the governor engaged with the crowd, nodding and flashing peace signs to the cheering audience. His appearance became one of the standout moments of the fashion event.
This year’s Lagos Fashion Week is themed “CRAFTED: Heritage” and runs until Sunday. It highlights African creativity and craftsmanship, featuring various designers, models, and fashion enthusiasts.
